FAQ's

Q. Who are you?

A.

We are the Liverpool Supporters Union, set up following an initial meeting of fans on 31st January 2008 in The Sandon pub, Anfield. Since that initial meeting we have formed a 'Working Committee', a group of fans with the goal of setting up and running the Union and progressing our stated aims and objectives. There have been 2 mass meetings, where a number of items have been discussed and the aims and objectives of this Union, voted and agreed upon.

We are here to represent the interests of ALL Liverpool fans, wherever they are based. Everyone is welcome and no one will be excluded.

Q. How do I join?

A.

You can click the join tab at the top of this page for instant online joining, all major debit and credit cards are accepted. You can also download a membership form from the same page. Membership forms are also available at the Mass Meetings we hold. These are advertised well in advance. You can return your membership form to us via post (details on the membership form).

We are also in the process of establishing alternative locations for people to take their membership applications to in person. We are also keen to establish Liverpool Supporters' Union (LSU) branches across the world.

Q. Why should I join?

A.

Are you fed up of the way the club is run?
Are you unhappy with the way us fans are treated – by travel companies, the ticket office, and the club?
Are you angry with the way our club has been run by George Gillett and Tom Hicks?
Do you want to prevent future owners behaving the way they have?
Would you like supporters to be represented on the board?
Would you like supporters to run the club?

Well these are all things we are trying to achieve. With fans support we can.

Q. What is my £10 going to be used for?

A.

Your membership subscription fee will go into the Unions' fund. This is a secure fund that will be used for official Union activities, initially to pay for leafleting campaigns, advertising and production of membership cards. The subscription fee also covers the administrative cost of sending out information to home addresses, email addresses etc. Our admin is being carried out by EDT, a non profit agency. They are doing this for £1 per member.

Q. I have sent my membership form off but haven’t heard anything?

A.

It is likely that EDT have received your form and are in the process of progressing your membership. We aim to have packs sent out to new members no more than one month from receiving the form. Membership Packs are being continually processed.

Q. Why hasn’t my cheque been cashed?

A.

Please see above. It should not take any more than one month for a cheque to be cashed and we aim to bank cheques on a fortnightly basis.

Q. Can I join online?

A.

Yes. If you wish to join online please click the join tab at the top of this page.

Q. What do I get for my £10?

A.

You will receive a Liverpool Supporters Union membership card and a LSU badge. You will have full voting rights as part of the Union and will be able to take advantage of initiatives such as Union chartered travel which we offer at a cheaper rate than the established agencies. We are also looking at providing any other available benefits to our members as they arise.

Q. Are you ShareLiverpool? What are your opinions on ShareLiverpool?

A.

We are not ShareLiverpool. However, we are interested in what they are doing and have had some dialogue with them with the intention of achieving our ultimate aim of supporter ownership of Liverpool Football Club. There are also several Committee Members who have attended ShareLiverpool meetings and shared ideas about Supporter Ownership and how it can be achieved.

Q. Are you RTK?

A.

We are not RTK. We are a union of fans who wish to unite and stand together, looking at all aspects of supporting Liverpool Football Club. Some of the co-founders of RTK have been involved in the Union since its formation and are on the Committee. RTK will continue to work on its individual issues of atmosphere inside the ground and on other initiatives for inside the ground, but will do so with the support of the Union.
