Joey Jones Evening

After the massive success of the End of Season Fundraiser at the Olympia on 4th May 2008, the Union has planned a series of more intimate Sportsman's Evenings throughout the course of the season.

The first of these took place on Friday 11th July 2008, at the Liverpool Supporters Club, Lower Breck Road, Anfield. where former Liverpool player, Joey Jones, spoke about his career. From the moment he entered the club, Joey was humble, warm and friendly and had the crowd hanging on his every word with his tales of Tommy Smith and Bob Paisley and his playing career for Liverpool, Wales and Chelsea. To top it off Joey Jones and his son are now paid up members of the Union. The comedian, Mark Langley was hilarious and the scouse supper was top notch, as were the girls serving it!

For £12, the night was real value for money. The evening ended with a Q & A session with Joey, who also drew out the winners of the raffle which saw numerous lucky members going away with signed memorabilia and assorted prizes, and even photos of themselves with the European cup and Joey.
