SOS asks members to help the FSF

The Football Supporters Federation (FSF) are asking all their affiliate organisations, of which the Spirit of Shankly is one, to help them collate evidence of incidents of public order policing at football matches. The FSF are compiling a dossier of these methods used at football grounds and beyond: city centres, pubs, motorways, train stations etc.

The FSF have been invited to present their findings to the Home Office as part of the current enquiry into police methods used at recent G20 protests. See:

Amanda Jacks of the FSF told Spirit of Shankly: " We are looking for people's experiences of public order policing tactics that you have perceived as excessive or unnecessary. We know the police have a difficult job to do, but we are also aware that many ordinary fans will get caught up in policing methods and tactics designed to stop a tiny minority of people causing trouble in and around football. We are looking for people's broad experiences of match day policing, as well as specific incidents they have experienced. We would also welcome positive feedback and examples of good practice".
