I speak on behalf of the Shankly family when I say that we are wholeheartedly behind The Spirit Of Shankly. - Karen Gill, March 2008

Spirit of Shankly have today been in talks with Liverpool Football Club regarding the proposal of a pitch inspection taking place at 12 pm on the 26th of December 2010, to decide whether the game against Blackpool would be going ahead.
We have contacted the club to see if they can ask Blackpool to bring forward the time of the pitch inspection on Boxing Day to save Liverpool fans paying for coach travel and travelling in such conditions, when the advice to all is to travel only when necessary. The club said they would contact us if they have any news.
The Club have since been in touch and told us that it has been agreed between both clubs and the Premier League that to give the game every chance of going ahead that the inspection will take place at midday. Blackpool FC have brought in industrial heaters to try and ensure the game is played. Neither club wants the game called off and the Premier League certainly don’t as fixtures are starting to pile up.
We understand the need for wanting the game to go ahead, but if for whatever reason the game is declared unfit to play at 12pm, then many fans will have already paid for travel and began their journey. We would then look towards Liverpool Football Club, Blackpool FC and the Premier League to recompense fans for their travel when the fixture is eventually played, as nobody wants to be out of pocket at this time of year. Hopefully the game will go ahead.
Spirit of Shankly has also suffered at the hands of the recent weather, and due to this the decision has been made to extend the deadline for the 2011 Management Committee Elections. The original instructions are here:

But the deadline for nominations of anyone wishing to stand for election has now been put back to 10th January 2011. Please follow the procedure set out in the original guidelines.
Thank you and Merry Christmas
