2015/2016 Premier League fixture release day

Today the Premier League fixtures for the 2015/2016 season have been announced. Yet, no plans can be made and no transport can be booked as loyal fans have to wait for confirmation as to which games will be moved for television.

With the above in mind, we are writing to both Sky and BT Sport to request that they consider what moving a match from a 3pm kick off on Saturday to a Monday night at 8pm, actually means to the fans who travel. Particularly when the fixture change means that fans will then be unable to travel home using public transport and will more than likely need to take time off work to attend. Fans should not be expected to travel more than a set number of miles for fixtures at irregular kick off times.

Ticket prices are expensive enough without these unnecessary costs being added on. If fixtures are moved to unreasonable times, we would call on the clubs involved and the relevant television companies to look at subsidising this additional expense.

We also call on Liverpool Football club to work with other clubs to enter in to reciprocal pricing arrangements for away fans to assist the loyal fans on the travels.

Last season saw fans continue to fight against the ever increasing price of attending the match. A successful “stay away” was called at Hull City and joint protests and demonstrations with other clubs continued to hit the headlines. This pressure will be continued in the new season and from there onwards until we reach our objectives.

Football should be affordable for all supporters.
