Mass Meeting-RBS-PTS

Tuesday 30th June 2009

MASS MEETING

The Spirit of Shankly are calling a mass meeting for 1.00pm on the 11th July 2009 at Zelig's (Liverpool One). A formal agenda will be circulated in the week before the meeting but likely topics for discussion will be the Owners, RBS Refinancing, Michael Shields and seeking feedback from members as to where they consider our priorities should lie. With that in mind all members are asked to let us know of any items they would wish to see on the Agenda for discussion at the meeting (please email secretary@spiritofshankly.com) - please email even if you cannot attend we will try and deal with as many issues as we can at the meeting (or directly with members if this is not possible).

RBS

The Management Committee have seen the email sent by Roger Lowry of RBS Public Affairs to those who took part in the letter and email campaign.

It is encouraging that we have received something more than just a stock response, but the email contains a number of inaccuracies and misrepresentations of the actual position. While individual members may wish to respond, we are working on a response in order to keep the dialogue and pressure on RBS, as even if the re-financing is granted, the battle goes on as the current financial model the Americans are working under is clearly unsustainable.

PRIORITY TICKET SCHEME

The Spirit of Shankly is pleased to see that Liverpool Football Club have gone some way to recognising the loyalty for some of the former Priority Ticket Scheme members with the announcement made last week about ticket arrangements for next season.

Ian Ayre, Commercial Director of Liverpool Football Club commented to the Union as follows " as will always be the case what we are trying to do is improve systems and improve access for the majority of fans. The selling process for the membership recognises loyalty from both the PTS and from the General Sale for all members and at the same time ensures that all members can have a fair chance of accessing tickets for some games on a fair and open basis"

The Spirit of Shankly understand that while we have a stadium limited in size there will always be pressures to accommodate all of the fans who wish to support the team - this underlines again the failure of our "owners" to do what they promised over two years ago and to get construction of a new stadium started.

We will continue to press the Club in relation to all issues affecting our membership.
