Press Report

Monday 22nd February 2010

The Spirit of Shankly, the Liverpool Supporters' Union, have been made aware of reports in today's Daily Mail of a proposed joint initiative between fans of Liverpool FC and Manchester United and "that talks between key fan groups from each side of the great divide have already taken place"

While the Union recognises that there may be issues in common between the positions of the Clubs, we can confirm that there have been no talks involving the Union and any Manchester United fan group.

The Union Committee's current position is that it believes that any liaison between any Clubs on this issue should take place through the Football Supporters' Federation (FSF). Union representatives will be meeting officials from the FSF later this week and we plan to present our findings and to canvass member's opinion on this issue at its AGM this weekend, and the whole membership thereafter.
