SOS statement on RBS Boycott in press

Thursday 11th March 2010

The Spirit Of Shankly, the Liverpool Supporters' Union, is aware of plans by several Liverpool fans to launch a boycott of the Royal Bank of Scotland and its products and services should they refinance the current debts of Liverpool Football Club.

While the Union welcomes any action that has a positive effect upon the ownership issue, it is only fair to the fans organising it for the Union to make it clear that it is not involved in the campaign.

Should our membership propose and endorse such a move then we would look at taking such action. Until then our stance still remains - Tom and George are Not Welcome at this football club, and we will seek their removal at every opportunity.

Action taken by fans outside of the Union only further underlines the growing anger and discontent with Tom Hicks and George Gillett and how they have chosen to run our football club.
