Information for Members ahead of the Cup Final 5th May 2012

Spirit of Shankly has gathered information from various parties including the Metropolitan Police, British Transport Police and Wembley Stadium that will be helpful to all LFC fans travelling to, and attending, the FA Cup Final on Saturday 5th May 2012.

Travelling to and from Liverpool by Train

Trains are extremely limited. If you have not yet made travel arrangements then an additional train has been added avoiding the engineering works which are causing issues throughout the weekend. Read more here http://www.spiritofshankly.com/news/additional-train-for-the-cup-final

The additional train costs £25 each way and must be booked in advance.

National Express will be running a coach service from Brownlow Hill, Liverpool to the Stadium gates, returning after the match.

Travelling to Wembley and Parking

Liverpool supporters can use Wembley Park tube station to access the stadium. Once they come out of the tube station they will walk along Olympic Way (formally Wembley Way) and will be directed up the left hand ramp which will take them to the East of the stadium. Wembley Park is serviced by the Jubilee Line and the Metropolitan Line which enables supporters to travel in from central London in the south or Watford, Uxbridge, Hillingdon and Stanmore from the north.

Those supporters driving or travelling by coach to the stadium are advised to leave early to avoid queues before the game and must expect delays afterwards due to the high number of vehicles trying to leave at the same time.

Many supporters leave their private vehicles in surrounding Boroughs and utilise the tube system to finish their journey. Drivers MUST check the parking restrictions when they leave their vehicles as many Councils impose restrictions on match days.

Please allow plenty of time to make your final tube journey in case there are any problems such as signal delays which may prevent tubes from running.

Please follow http://wembleystadium.com/TheStadium/GettingHere to read more about travel information including coach, rail and tube information and details about car parking.

Around Wembley Stadium

Liverpool FC has been allocated the EAST side of the stadium. See a full list of all LFC pubs here.

There are only so many people these premises can hold and they will become full very quickly.

The Metropolitan Bar in Baker Street is likely to be an LFC pub but The Globe Public House has been allocated to Chelsea fans for the Cup Final.

There is a NO DRINK policy for public places around the stadium and this will be enforced by the police on the day, especially on Wembley (Olympic) Way. Supporters are advised to drink away from the area and travel in by Tube nearer to kick off.

It is expected that there will large numbers of supporters travelling to the stadium without tickets. Members are advised not to show their tickets in public until they reach the turnstiles. It would be virtually impossible for supporters to gain entry to the stadium after having their tickets stolen.

We would advise supporters not to buy tickets at inflated tickets from touts as the authenticity of these tickets cannot be guaranteed.

Flags and Banners at Wembley

If you plan to take flags or banner to the Cup Final on Sunday you should follow http://www.spiritofshankly.com/documents/wembley_flag.pdf for guidance from Wembley Stadium which gives details on restrictions and sizes of flags and banners allowed. Please note that stewards will remove any flags or banners which contravene this guidance.

Message from the Hillsborough Justice Campaign

Spirit of Shankly is once again pleased to support the Hillsborough Justice campaign (HJC) against The Sun newspaper at the FA Cup Final.

Posters are being distributed to LFC supporters who are encouraged to take a poster into the stadium and hold it up before kick off.

For further information on how to get copies of the poster please visit the HJC Facebook page.

If any members of Spirit of Shankly experience any problems on the day please let us know and we will endeavor to raise these issues after the Cup Final with the appropriate authorities.
