Community Development

The Union want to engage the local community of Anfield including local schools, community groups and residents. We’d especially like to look at ways of improving the area of Anfield – offering opportunities to those forgotten by the club.

Our work throughout 2009 saw us be in the running for the European Football Supporters Award.

In 2009 we have arranged free coaching camps, supported a local school with their activities, and supported a street collection for the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund. All of this was acheived only with help of Spirit of Shankly members who kindly donated their time and expertise.

In 2015 we launched Fans Supporting Foodbanks primarily serving the North Liverpool foodbank, but with a model that has spread across the UK and beyond.

In collaboration with Spion Kop 1906, Kop Outs and Fans Supporting Foodbanks we launched More Than A Stadium.

We aim to continue and further our community activities throughout the coming years. If you would like to help out with our community work or have any other queries about what we do, then please contact us at community@spiritofshankly.com
