Union Events
As part of our committment to improve how fans are treated, and what is available for us fans, we want to put on Events that are affordable, good for vaue for money, but more importantly a great night and a good opportunity for fellow reds to get together, have a drink, talk, sing and reminisce about the good old days and the bright future we may have.
So far we have organised two Events, our End Of Season Bash at The Olympia on 4th May, and our Sportmans Evening which took place on Friday 11th July 2008.
Sportsmans Evening, Friday 11th July 2008
Liverpool Supporters Club, Lower Breck Road, Anfield
We had an excellent night line up for those attending, which promised to be another excellent night. Former Liverpool player, and legend Joey Jones, was our Guest Speaker for the evening, telling tales from his playing career under the great "Sir" Bob Paisley, and giving us an insight into what it was like playing for Liverpool at a time when an unsuccessful season was winning just one cup. Joey is probably just as famous for the "Joey ate the frogs legs..." banner as he is for his passion and commitment to LFC, and he provided a great deal of entertainment. Comedian Mark Langley also entertained those in attendance, and the Scouse Supper was a highlight of the evening for the Huyton Fatties.

End Of Season Bash, Sunday 4th May 2008
The Olympia, West Derby Road, Liverpool
The first of our Events saw over a 1,000 people inside the Olympia for the Liverpool Supporters Union inaugural End Of Season Do. The reasoning behind organising the night was simple - most fans go out after the last home game of the season. So why not do something for them. All reds, together in one place, to have a good night. Well it turned out better than good, with the most common superlative used to describe it being "Boss".
The night saw several local bands entertain everyone with great sets from The Dead Ringers, The Quarter and The Great Northwestern Hoboes getting the night off to a great start. The Troubadours played a great set, and were followed by probably the biggest up and coming band in Liverpool at the minute, The Maybes?. They are truely a great band with great songs, and everyone, young and old, male or female, even some of the blues in the crowd (yes, there were one or two) went away thinking to themselves "How good are they!". John Head from local band Shack played a set, which seemed to have its own intimate crowd surrounding him at the stage. An excellent version of You'll Never Walk Alone brought a brilliant set to an end. James Walsh of Starsailor, was the last our 'scheduled' performers, and rounded it off with a joint performance from himself and the crowd of Fernando Torres, Liverpool's Number 9;
A special guest appearance (Those who were there know, those who weren't, sorry we are sworn to secrecy) was a brilliant moment for the person and for those who were there, before the Urchins and the lead singer who shall remain nameless, gave an unscheduled performance of Horse with No Name. And after that, the night couldn't get any better and came to an end, with all who attended going off into town, or home talking about what a great night it had been, and how much they are looking forward to next year's.
A selection of pictures from the night can be found here.
